   Madder, also known as munjeet, radix rubiae, logwood, is a kind of perennial climbing herb with dozens of clumped roots and four whorls of purplish red or orange red outer skin and long stalks. The shape of the leaves varies greatly. They are ovate, triangular ovate, wide ovate to narrow ovate, and the berries are spherical, turning black after red. It has the effect of cooling blood, stopping bleeding, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. It is mainly used to treat hemoptysis, postpartum stasis and abdominal pain, bruise injury, rheumatism and arthralgia.Madder root is often used for dyeing with red color.
