   Lac, also known as shellac, red gum, lacca, mainly contains lac resin, lac wax and lac pigment. It is the purple natural resin secreted by lac insect after absorbing the sap of host tree. It originates in Yunnan, Tibet and Taiwan etc. It can be used as edible red pigment and food additive.
