Myrobalan, also known as terminalia chebula, is the evergreen tree with ovate or elliptic leaves. Its fruit is like olive, which can be used as medicine and has the effect of relieving diarrhea and cough. It originates in Yunnan, Guangdong, India, Myanmar, Malaya, etc. Myrobalan is the most commonly used Tibetan medicine with the effect of restraining lung, astringing intestines, and descending qi. It is mainly used to treat chronic cough, aphasia, diarrhea, dysentery, etc. In the classic work of Tibetan medicine "Jing Zhu Materia?Medica", myrobalan is called "the king of Tibetan medicine".
Gallnut, is a kind of cystoid galls formed by the female horned gall of Homoptera Aphids parasitizing on the young leaves of rhus vernicifera. Its bark contains abundant tannic acid which can be used for dyeing. When tannic acid combines with iron ion, the fiber can be dyed into blue-black color.
